Who is Lisa?

I’m Lisa and my journey has led me to new places in the middle of my life. Why? After more than 30 years in the human resources field, I desire to use the expertise in new, non-traditional ways.  I have a huge desire to work with women, to connect with them, to share their journey. While human resources provides skills for working with people, I’ve added a couple layers.

In 2017, I became certified as a Life Coach and hold an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) designation. I’m also a devotee of Brené Brown, and am certified to facilitate her groundbreaking Dare to Lead™ program. Infusing courage into our work and everyday lives and I have a passion to share the program with businesses and individuals. I also use a series of assessments, DISC, Driving Forces and others, to provide people tools to understand how they’re wired and show up in the world.

Business and Life coaching is what I plan to do in my “second half,” along with finding more freedom in life. Freedom to actually enjoy life instead of being run by it.

If you want to get a feel for who I am, read and follow my blog. What am I doing writing a blog?  Good question.  I believe that there’s more to life than the way I’ve been living.  Safe, responsible, secure, all good things.  But like all good things, there is a flip side.  For me, I’m serious, a lot…I’d say all the time but I don’t like that and don’t want to own it. I’m trying to relax, to enjoy, to have a lot more fun, to be happy.  Happiness is a choice and it’s one I’m making. You’ll find I’m not your standard “human resources” pro, and at the same time approach coaching with a practical and courageous lens.

What else?  I could attach a lot of labels, mom, daughter, sister, friend…many more, but I’m not a fan of labels. I like yoga, I dislike stretching, I’m a swimmer, reader and writer. I have an insatiable curiosity and go down rabbit holes on a regular basis. I love coffee, tea, chocolate, pancakes and so much more you may hear about.

I have a lot to say about my life’s adventures. I think you just have to show up and let go of the “should’s,” the lies we all tell ourselves about how we should look, act, perform, all the things that limit us from the life planned for us.  We can all come up with reasons why we can’t do what we want to do, but it’s really just excuses, which are really just lies to squirm out of responsibility for who we are or what we’ve done.  I’m all for pushing that aside and living to our potential.  The trick is, it’s not a destination, something we’re working on arriving at. The journey is the fun part. Let’s take it together.

So you still might wonder what am I doing writing a blog?  I’m having fun, I’m processing out loud, I’m taking chances, I’m being vulnerable, I’m being BRAVE.  Thanks for dropping in for my journey.
